First Residents Move Into Binghamton Centre Plaza Apartments
Construction has been completed on dozens of new apartments in a downtown Binghamton building that was occupied by offices for decades.
Thirty units now are available on the top five floors of Centre Plaza at Chenango and Henry streets.

The property was acquired in June 2023 by Chenango Holdings LLC for $2.1 million.
Broome County developer James Slocum received approval from the city planning commission to convert the office building into 63 apartments with a total of 87 bedrooms.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the Centre Plaza complex was about 70 percent vacant.
Each of the top floors in the renovated building have four one-bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments.
Slocum told WNBF News the first residents began moving into the complex last week. About 15 units are now occupied.

Construction continues on the second and third floors. Those floors have more available space than the upper floors that have been completed.
Slocum said he expects work on the remaining apartments will be completed in December.

The Binghamton Veterans Center continues to occupy space on the street level of the building.
The studios and offices of the WNBF and WQYT radio stations were located in the lower section of Centre Plaza from 1973 to 1983.
Tenants are still being sought for the commercial space in the Henry Street wing of the complex.
