Motorists and some residents of a Vestal neighborhood have been wondering about the recent installation of traffic signals at two intersections.

The signals are temporary. They'll be used during an upcoming bridge replacement project.

Town engineer Vernon Myers said the Washington Drive bridge over Fuller Hollow Creek is to be replaced over the next few months.

Traffic signals have been installed at Washington Drive intersections with Murray Hill Road and Lehigh Avenue.

The Lehigh Avenue signals are located just south of a Binghamton University entrance.

The signals are covered and not in operation yet. Myers said they'll initially be put in "flashing" mode to allow drivers to get acclimated to them. Then they'll be put into regular service to control traffic during the construction project.
