
Unclaimed Funds Booth Canceled with NYS Fair But Money Search is Not
One of the popular booths at the New York State Fair is the one manned by the New York State Comptroller’s Office to help people find out if they have unclaimed funds.

Even without the fair, which was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, residents can still look for lost money at the comptroller’s website.

Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says there is currently $16.5 billion in unclaimed money sitting in the State Office of Unclaimed Funds waiting for the rightful owners to show up.
The state currently returns over $1.5 million a day from things like forgotten bank accounts, utility and rent deposits or refund settlements.
