Unadilla Impaired with Child Arrest

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]A Unadilla Woman is charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child less than 16 years old in the car.

New York State Police say at around quarter after 7 Saturday evening they received a report of a vehicle driving off State Route 7 in the Town of  Unadilla and crashing into a guide rail.  There were no injuries.

35 year old Melissa Bateman had a 14 year old girl in the vehicle with her and troopers determined she was driving while impaired by drugs.  Bateman also reportedly had seven diazepam pills in her possession.

In addition to the felony count, Bateman is charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance and traffic violations.

She has been ordered to appear in Town of Unadilla Court next month.
