Officials are looking into the cause of an apartment house fire on Bevier Street in Binghamton that sent a woman to the hospital.

The woman, who is said to be a mother of four children, has not been identified and her condition was unavailable.

She was transported, by ambulance, to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.

Officials say the children got out of the building safely.

There were two families home at the time.

The fire broke out at around 7:30 p.m. March 2 and heavily damaged the building at 40-42 Bevier Street.

Fire officials quickly sounded a second alarm after arriving on the scene.

Around 20 firefighters worked at the scene and the American Red Cross was called in to help the displaced residents.

Officials are also investigating the cause of a blaze that damaged a well-known Irish Pub on  Main Street, Binghamton March 1.

Witnesses say they noticed flames in the kitchen of the Belmar Pub shortly before 9:30 p.m.

Patrons safely evacuated the business and firefighters had the flames out in a matter of minutes.
