Authorities say a jail officer witnessed an item being exchanged as inmate Margaret Will and visitor Kirby Spruill kissed.

Investigators say Will later was found to have a condom containing a small package. An envelope inside the package tested positive for heroin.

Officials say Will, who lives in Port Crane; and Spruill, who resides in the town of Binghamton, were charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, a felony.

Spruill was arraigned in Dickinson town court and ordered held in the jail without bail. Will was returned to the jail following her arraignment.
