Twilight Vampire Cocktail Recipe
This is a sweet treat you can really sink your fangs into at your adult Halloween party. A ghastly surprise is the 'blood' dripping down the sides of the glass.
Twilight Vampire Cocktail (makes two)
1/4 C. maraschino cherry syrup (simple syrup and red food coloring can substitute)
1/4 C. granulated sugar
1 shot sour cherry schnapps
2 shots vodka
1/4 C. blueberry juice (well chilled)
Tonic water
Start by combining the cherry syrup and sugar in a sauce pan and bring to a boil, stirring to combine. Continue to boil down the syrup to reduce until it coats the spoon and doesn't drip off. Let cool to room temperature.
In a large glass, combine the liquors and blueberry juice.
When the syrup is cooled to about room temperature, dip the rims of your cocktail glasses into the reduction. Turn right-side up and allow the 'blood' to drip down the outside of the glass. You may have to tip it upside down a few times to keep the syrup from running all the way down until the syrup coagulates.
Pour liquor/juice mix into serving glass, filling halfway. Top off with tonic.
I also put a couple frozen grapes in the bottom of the glasses. I thought they looked a bit like eyeballs.
