Watermelons, along with other food and beverages, were strewn across a busy Town of Union street following a two-vehicle crash.

No injuries were reported after a pickup truck collided with an sport utility vehicle at the intersection of North Street and Kentucky Avenue.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The truck overturned, spilling a large load of groceries onto North Street.

Broome County sheriff's deputies and Endicott police redirected motorists off North Street between Jackson and Delaware avenues while the mess was being cleaned up.

A few people who lived nearby helped Endwell firefighters remove the smashed watermelons, cans of soda and other items from the roadway.

It was not known whether tickets had been issued to either driver involved in the crash, which happened just east of the village of Endicott border.
