Tractor Supply Company's second Broome County store will open its doors soon.

Construction on the store on Upper Front Street south of Wolfe Park began last summer.

Store manager Renee Gosselin said the opening date has been scheduled for February 24. She said grand opening events, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, are planned for next month.

Tractor Supply Company has operated a store in Vestal for several years. Gosselin said the new building is smaller than the Vestal Parkway store. She said it's comparable in size to the company's Norwich store.

Gosselin said 12 people have been hired to work at the town of Chenango store, which will be open seven days a week.

The new store will have a feature not currently offered at other Tractor Supply locations in the region. Gosselin said it will have a pet wash station where customers will be able to bathe their dogs and cats. She said she expects her pot-belly pig will take advantage of the pet wash station.

Chenango town supervisor Harold Snopek said a hotel had been located at the site of the new store but that business closed more than three decades ago.
