Town of Chenango “Road Rage” Case Leads to Stabbing of Teenager

A suspect has been arrested following the stabbing of a teenager in the aftermath of a road rage incident that occurred on Upper Front Street in the town of Chenango.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, 50-year-old Michael Seaman of South New Berlin has been charged with first-degree assault.

Seaman is accused of stabbing 18-year-old Gavin Marsh in his upper thigh around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Marsh was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.

The attack occurred in the area of 1312 Route 369 in the town of Fenton after Seaman and the occupants were involved in a road rage incident. Investigators said it "involved aggressive driving, exchanging hand signals and verbal arguments" as the vehicles traveled on Upper Front Street.

Seaman and Marsh got out of their vehicles on Route 369 and started fist fighting. Officials said Marsh was stabbed. Seaman then allegedly fought with a 17-year-old Port Crane boy and tried unsuccessfully to stab him.

Seaman drove away in a pickup truck. The man and his vehicle were found at his residence in Chenango County.

Seaman was taken into custody and transported to the Broome County jail for arraignment.
