Two-Alarm Blaze Causes Extensive Damage to Town of Chenango Home
A single-family house in the town of Chenango sustained heavy damage as a result of a fire.
Firefighters from several departments battled the blaze at 23 South Morningside Drive. The fire was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Friday.
Chenango Fire Company chief Russell Carey said someone driving down the street noticed smoke coming from the home and reported the blaze.
Carey said there was a working fire in the attic area of the house when the first units arrived at the scene. He said the home was unoccupied when the blaze started.
Carey said there were no injuries. Two dogs reportedly inside the house at the time apparently were not hurt.
Chenango firefighters were assisted by units from Chenango Bridge, Five Mile Point, Prospect Terrace, Hillcrest and the Endicott FAST team.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
