Fire forced three people out of an Endicott apartment and resulted in the temporary closure of a business located in the building.

The blaze at 1405 Watson Boulevard was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

A smoke alarm alerted the residents of a second-floor apartment. They were able to leave the building safely.

Endicott fire chief Joseph Griswold told WNBF News the blaze is believed to have started in the attic. He said it likely was caused by an electrical problem.

Griswold said the fire caused moderate damage, primarily to the attic area of the building. The apartment, which sustained some damage, was uninhabitable.

The bakery on the first floor - Baked! By Camille - sustained some water damage but no fire damage.

Camille Ciotoli, the owner of the business, said the damage to the bakery was minor. She said the business should reopen early next week.

Ciotoli said she's advising customers who had already placed orders not to panic. She said she will be able to fulfill all orders.
