Tioga Downs’ Grant Funds Broome Library Accessibility Improvements
The Broome County Library can be more easily used by more people thanks to a grant from Tioga Downs Casino and Resort.

The $25,692 grant has allowed the library to buy new equipment and software including extra-large, back-lit keyboards, height-adjustable desks, text-to-speech high-definition cameras and sensory toys.
The Library has also installed an accessible, automatic door to the children’s section.
News of the gift from the casino in Nichols comes as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo continues to deny allowing non-Native American casinos to reopen with plans to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
During the announcement, the President of the Friends of the Broome County Library, JoAnne Hanrahan 'respectfully requested' the Governor allow Tioga Downs Casino and Resort to reopen in order to continue to support the region and its programs.
(July 26th marked the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.)
