The holiday season always brings out the best in people and the Church Women United has put up their annual Community Mitten Tree.

What is a Community Mitten Tree? I had to ask that question myself and the answer, it’s a tree decorated with colorful knit mittens, hats, socks and slippers.

The tree is in a new location this year on display at Hoppie’s Restaurant 2 LaFayette Park, in Oxford, New York.

In addition to the colorful knit mittens, hats, socks and slippers. New toys and books can also be brought and placed under the tree.

The Church Women United will take the donated items and put together community Christmas baskets and possibly some donations to the Oxford Primary and Head Start programs.

There are four organizations that make up the Church Women United, they include St Paul’s, United Methodist, St Joseph’s, and the United Church of Oxford.

All are welcome to stop by and see the Mitten tree and make donations  from now through December 2nd
