Tournament of Bands

The annual Tournament of Marching Bands will once again be a big part of the parade with several New York State and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania high school bands.

The annual Columbus Day Tournament of Bands competition and parade and the Italian Festival is all set for October 10, 2022.

After skipping a year due to the pandemic, the over 60-year-old Columbus Day parade and high school marching band competition in Binghamton is coming back.

After 60 years, there will be no Tournament of Bands and Italian Festival in Binghamton this year.

October 14 is a federal holiday and that means most public schools are off, banks are closed and there is no mail delivery.

In Binghamton, Columbus Day isn’t just about Italian heritage, it’s about high school musicians who participate in the annual Tournament of Bands parade competition.

Forecasters say the remnants of Hurricane Nate will be dampening Columbus Day festivities.
