Signs of fall and winter are already appearing across New York. The first frost has arrived, leaves are changing, and the state is experiencing its shortest frost-free period in over a decade.

Frost can kill these fall flowers but here are ways to help keep them alive.

Some residents to the east of Binghamton are getting a first sign of the change of the seasons.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton says areas east of Interstate 81 now appear most likely to reach below freezing overnight October 4.
