An alleged shoplifting case in the Town of Chenango has escalated into a felony charge for a Syracuse man.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say shortly after 4 a.m. October 27, they responded to a report of a man stealing a small item from the CVS on Upper Front Street.  A check of the license plate and description of the vehicle given by an employee found the car had been stolen in Syracuse.

25 year old John Travers is charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny for the theft of a $7 auxiliary cord from the CVS.

Deputies say they found the stolen Pontiac G6 on Old Front Street in the Town of Dickinson and apprehended Travers.

Travers was sent to the Broome County Jail without bail and faces additional charges in Syracuse in connection with the vehicle theft.
