SUNY Students Offer Comfort to Domestic Violence Victims
Some Binghamton University students are back and they are being put to work at the EnJoie Golf Club in Endicott, not working the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open golf tournament, but offering support for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
For a second year, the “SUNY’s Got Your Back” program is filling bags of necessities for victims who sometimes flee with only their clothes on their backs.
Students, golfers, golf wives and volunteers from police and other agencies at Enjoie.
Another “SUNY’s Got Your Back” event will be held at the Northern Trust Tournament in Old Westbury August 23.
Last year, 10,000 packs were filled and organizers are hoping to fill as many kits this year.
Dick’s Open coordinator John Karedes says participation in Broome County demonstrates just how caring not only the local community is, but members of the golf community.
