SUNY Broome Community College now owns an airplane.

A 1966 Piper Aztec single prop plane has been donated to the college as the school moves toward starting an airplane maintenance degree program.

Part of the criteria for starting the program was the school had to have a plane.

The course plan needs approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and New York State Education Department.

The airplane was donated by BCC alumnus, dentist Richard Bedosky, who had flown the aircraft for decades.

BCC officials say they hope the program can enroll students next year.
