Stuck Boaters Rescued at Whitney Point Dam

No injuries are reported following a few tense moments at sunset on Whitney Point Lake June 7. 

Broome County Emergency Services officials say two men in an aluminum boat had to be rescued when their craft became stuck on rocks at the Whitney Point Dam. 

Whitney Point Fire’s rescue boat was launched to pull the boaters off the rocks on the South Side of the dam at 7:59 p.m.

The boaters were said to have just gotten wedged on the rocks and were not near the intake for the dam.

Dorchester Park was still open at the time, as the park closes at dusk.
