Broome County Sheriff’s officials say a 29 year old Endicott man is accused of putting stolen license plates on a stolen vehicle then struggling with authorities as they were taking him into custody.

A Binghamton Police officer noticed the stolen plates on a parked car and a Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy saw Jamell Jones’ vehicle leaving the parking lot and driving down Clinton Street.

Authorities stopped Jones a short time later.

Deputies say while being taken into custody, Jones reportedly struggled with deputies, attempted to kick out a patrol vehicle window and threatened to kick officers.

Jones is accused of putting the stolen plates on a vehicle that had been taken sometime late last year while the owner was incarcerated in the Broome County Jail.

The Endicott man is charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of stolen property, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, driving without a license and driving with suspended registration.

Jones is also being ticketed for a number of traffic violations.
