With the July 4th holiday extended through the weekend for many individuals police agencies advise that there will be increased patrols on area roadways and highways.  In a release from the Pennsylvania State Police at Towanda officials announced that their patrol  efforts are being enhanced.

Increased efforts are continuing through Sunday night.  Pa. State Police are increasing DUI Checkpoints as well as adding additional Roving DUI patrols.  Pa. State Police are also increasing the number of troopers on highways looking for speed limit and seat belt violators.

In the advisory to area media Trooper Deanna Piekanski, Troop P Public Information Officer stated "We would like to advise all motorists to slow down and enjoy the drive.  Do not drink and drive or drive impaired in any way, wear your seatbelts and be sure your child passengers are in the proper safety seats for their age and the seats are installed correctly.  Have a safe and happy holiday weekend !".
