Southern Tier Secession Pushed

Residents from all over the Southern Tier and Central New York say they’ve had enough of the Empire State.

Dozens turned out for a rally in Bainbridge August 30 to push for a chunk of the so-called “Upstate” region to secede from New York and join Pennsylvania over gripes concerning the fracking ban, gun control and the Common Core education standards.

In order for a part of New York State to join Pennsylvania, both state legislatures have to approve the move.
