Essential Updates On New York Southern Tier Road Projects

You need to drive, so we need to let you know of current and future road work and construction during your daily commute. While this may not list every simple road work project, we do our best to let you know what we know.

Here are the current/future road work schedules throughout the Southern Tier of New York.

Binghamton Area

• During the weeknight hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., Interstate 81 southbound is reduced to one lane starting at Exit 13, and Interstate 81 eastbound is reduced to one lane beginning at Exit 72. The lane reductions extend to the State Route 7 (Brandywine Expressway) overpass in the City of Binghamton to facilitate pavement repairs.
• Work continues on Washington Street from Henry Street to Clinton Street.
• Roadwork on US 11, both directions between Century Drive and Page Road - 2 north of 4 lanes blocked for wall replacement through November 15th between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Roadwork on Iinterstate 81 northbound between Exit 1 in Kirkwood and Exit 2E - Connector from US 11 to Interstate 81 (Exit 2) & NY Route 17 (Exit 75) - 1 alternate lane of 2 lanes blocked for bridge deck repairs over Johnson Road between Exits 4 & 8 (old Exits 1 & 2) through October 31st between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Johnson City

Roadwork on Route 201 northbound area of the Town of Union, one lane of the 2 lanes is blocked for the soundwall replacement through December 1st.

Vestal

State Route 17 eastbound will be reduced to one lane between Exit 67 (State Route 26/Endicott) and Exit 69 (State Route 17C/Johnson City) in the Town of Vestal, Broome County, during the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. beginning Monday, October 27, through Thursday, October 30, to facilitate bridge repairs.

Broome County Highway Work (week of October 27)

• Paving Broome County Airport Road – County Route 069 between Harry L. Drive & East Maine Road/Lewis Road intersections
• Cleaning ditches on Old Newark Valley Road, Trim Street & Beartown Road
• Rebuilding shoulders on Killawog Hill Road & Loughlin Road
• Culvert work on Stratmill Road & Taft Avenue
• Mowing right-of-way on several county roads

Tioga County Highway Work

• Roadwork on NY Route 17, both directions between Exit 65 - NY 434; Ramp Owego and Town of Owego; Town of Vestal Line Owego - one alternate lane of two lanes blocked through November 1st between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
