New York State's Gaming Facility Location Board has decided to accept more bids for a possible casino license in the Southern Tier.

The board in a New York City meeting voted to request applications for a fourth casino license.

The move followed last month's announcement that three sites had been chosen for casino projects.

Broome and Tioga county officials criticized the board's decision to recommend a license for a project in the town of Tyre. They weren't happy that proposals for casinos in the towns of Union and Nichols were rejected.

Governor Andrew Cuomo then called on the siting board to reopen bidding for a fourth license to provide another opportunity for a Southern Tier casino project.

The backers of competing casino proposals at Traditions at the Glen and Tioga Downs now say they're planning to work together on revised project.

Supporters of a Tioga casino say the partnership between Jeff Gural and Bill Walsh could help the Southern Tier win approval for a casino license.
