While an Ice Storm Warning for Delaware and Otsego Counties has expired, officials issued a special weather statement overnight warning that the morning commute could be complicated by slippery conditions.

Light rain and drizzle had been falling through the region through the night December 30 but some of that precipitation in the Greater Binghamton area turned over to big, wet snowflake and rain.

Temperatures lingering around 32 degrees could mean freezing conditions on untreated roads, sidewalks and other colder surfaces.

Forecasters were expecting New Year's Eve to be far less cold than in some recent past years with temperatures in the upper 20s. There is also a chance for a little snow overnight into New Year's Day.  The National Weather Service says, however, that should amount to less than a half inch, but could still cause some slippery conditions.
