Slippery Conditions Expected East of I81

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 10 p.m. December 27 to 7 a.m. December 28 for Delaware, Oneida, Otsego and Sullivan Counties.

Officials say mixed precipitation is expected east of Interstate 81. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around or less than one tenth of an inch are expected, especially at higher elevations.

NOAA says the wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will develop late in the evening east of Broome County, before changing to just rain before dawn December 28 as temperatures rise.

Motorists should expect slippery road conditions in areas like Sidney, Walton, Delhi and Oneonta and especially at higher elevations.
