Senator Fred Akshar along with Broome-Tioga BOCES recognize Vanessa Moschak as the 52nd Senate District's 2020 Woman of Distinction.

Speaking with Senator Akshar on WNBF’s Binghamton Now he said every year the state senate honors woman who have enriched the quality of life in their community and across the state and picking someone who has gone above and beyond for her particular community

The Senator said, Generally, we do this in Albany in May, but because of the pandemic we couldn’t do that, so the award was Thursday morning at 11am on the BOCES campus in Binghamton.

Vanessa Moshak is assistant Vice Principal at Broome Tioga  BOCES and the founder of the Binghamton Hospital for Heroes Volunteer Group, that she started in the very early days of the pandemic.

The group is comprised of 51 volunteers from BOCES and 65 local businesses that support essential workers at the local hospital system.

Hospital for Heroes provides meals for hospital sites for 12 weeks, serving up 11,300 meals and receiving over 10 thousand dollars in grants and donations

The Senator Akshar awarded Moshak the award this morning at 11am on the BOCES campus in Binghamton.
