The high school football season is heading into sectional playoffs beginning this weekend.  Our WNBF Game of the Week coverage will take us to Spartan Stadium in Endwell as the high-flying Maine-Endwell Spartans host the Sabers of Susquehanna Valley.  Kickoff is 7 PM Saturday evening.

SV has had a good season with steady improvement.  The Sabers gave the Spartans all they could handle in M-E's first game under their new lights back on September 12th.  Adam Gallagher scored three touchdowns for the Spartans and Trent Story scored the other TD in a 27-14 decision. Jake Hawley and Marquis Jackson each scored touchdowns for SV.

The Sabers are 6-2 including 2-1 in Class "B" Division III while the Spartans are riding a 46-game consecutive winning streak highlighted by last week's crushing 29-0 shutout victory over the Elmira Express at Elmira.  The Express has the best record among Class "AA" schools in Section 4 at 6-0 and 6-2 overall.

The winner of the M-E- SV battle Saturday evening will advance to the Section 4 Championship game set for 6 PM Saturday, November 8 at Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott. This Saturday's game will be broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF with Roger Neel and Tim Smith calling the action.
