Owego Free Academy has announced a new scholarship in the name of one of its fallen students, Abby Mae Luffman.

Abby Luffman was a 16 year old student at OFA when she tragically passed away last year from a rare blood disorder called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura.

According to a News release from Owego Free Academy, Abby had plans to start a career in the medical healthcare field, and had always wanted to help others.

Even in her passing she helped saved lives by donating organs to two individuals.

The Abby Mae Luffman Memorial Scholarship was created to help, others who aspire to be in the medical field.

The scholarship was officially announced yesterday February 22nd Abbey’s Birthday and are currently accepting applications for consideration.

The details include a one page short history of the applicant, their plans for college, and how they would aspire to help others as Abby hoped to do in her life.

This year, which would have been Abby’s high school graduation year, two $1000 scholarships will be awarded, and going forward a $1000 scholarship will be awarded each year.

Scholarship applications must be submitted in PDF form via email to Mr. Westcott by March 26, 2021.
