A Sayre, Pennsylvania man is accused of driving in the Town of Union with a blood alcohol content at more than 3 1/2 times the legal limit.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say they arrested 32 year old Nelson Hopkins at 1:02 a.m. December 11 following a crash on Taft Avenue near Twist Run Road.

Authorities they found Hopkins sitting in the driver's seat and trying to open the door to his vehicle. He admitted he had been drinking at a Christmas party.

Investigators say they measured his blood alcohol content at more than .30%.

Hopkins is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a BAC .18% or greater, driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely.

He’s been ordered to appear in Town of Union Court at a later date.
