Eleven old houses on Front Street, Meadow Street and Spring Forest Avenue are being rehabilitated in the project.

First Ward Action Council executive director Jerry Willard said the agency has started to accept applications for the apartments. He said reconstruction of four of the houses could be completed this month.

Willard said some of the first residents will be selected by lottery following a screening process. He said they could begin moving into the apartments in April.

Workers recently started the final phase of renovations on the dilapidated buildings along Front Street.

Willard said the project is moving "pretty much" according to schedule. He said all of the renovations on the houses should be finished by the end of July.
