Prospect Mountain Construction Traffic Pattern Shift Planned

Motorists going through the construction in the area at the Route 17/ I81 interchange in Binghamton will be finding a long-term traffic pattern change starting August 5.

The work is between the Chenango River Bridge and Exit 4 south and north for Binghamton and Port Dickinson.  The exit for Route 17 Eastbound traffic will be closed at Exit 4 SN starting August 5.

The New York State Department of Transportation says long delays are anticipated between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday while the crews are setting up the new traffic pattern that will shift two lanes to the right to allow for the reconstruction of the left lane that will last through the summer..

The signed detour will take motorists to New York Route 17 East to Exit three, the Industrial Park exit and to Court Street (Route 11) then Route 7.
