Pounds of Meth Found in Cortland County Traffic Stop
Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say they found a huge amount of methamphetamine, measuring in pounds, not grams, during a stop of an unregistered vehicle in the Big Lots parking lot February 19.
Authorities say they noticed the vehicle in the parking lot on Route 281 in the Town of Cortlandville at 8:19 a.m. and found over four pounds of meth, a loaded handgun, 15 grams of marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash.
35-year-old Kyle Leeper, who is listed as homeless, is charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy as well as misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon and obstructing governmental administration, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving without a license and visibility distorted by broken glass. He was sent to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
35-year-old Arlene Rodriquez of Montebello, California is charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy, misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon and a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana. She was also sent to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
Authorities say the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
