The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are on a two-game win streak and starting to come together, yesterday two of their star players received some recognitions.

The Rumble Ponies organization got word and made the announcement yesterday that Mark Vientos and Pitcher Josh Walker have been recognized by the MiLB as the Northeast’s player and pitcher of the week.

During the week of June 21st Mark Vientos hit home runs five of six consecutive games, which totals a team leading  11 home runs for the season with a batting average of .400 through that stretch.

Vientos is only the second player on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies  to have more than one home run in a single game, and its currently ranked 8th in the Mets organization.

Josh Walker was named MiLB Northeastern League Pitcher of the week for his part in a no hitter last week in which he pitched six no hit innings, and combined with closer Andrew Mitchell in a 2-0 thrilling no hit victory in Reading against the Fightin’ Phils. The seventh no hitter in franchise history

Walker is 3-1 in his five starts as a Rumble Ponie, and with a combined record from his time with Brooklyn this season Walker is 6-1 overall with a 3.02 ERA.

Binghamton star pitcher also has the longest game start of the season with just three hits allowed and one run earned, along with one walk and nine strike outs, in the June 9th game resulting in a 9-1 victory over the Bowie Baysox.

Binghamton will start a six game series tonight in Richmond to take on the Flying Squirrels, they will return home next Tuesday July 6th to face the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in a six game home stand at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton.
