Johnson City police are trying to locate a person who showed a handgun after he became angry while inside a village store.

The incident occurred at Wilson Deli at the corner of Main and Arch streets around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Chief Brent Dodge said a man entered the store and reportedly asked for some free cigarettes.  He became upset when his request was declined.

Dodge said the man then apparently lifted his shirt to reveal a gun, although no threat was made. The man then left the store.

Police were looking for a black man who was said to have a thin build; between five-feet, eleven inches and six-feet tall; wearing a black baseball cap and a denim jacket.

People with information about the incident may contact Johnson City police at 607.729.9321.
