Plea Deal Turned Down in Binghamton Murder Case
A Binghamton man is turning down a plea deal that held the possibility of a shorter prison sentence for the fatal shooting of another man in April.
21 year old Jabari Ashe is charged with murder in the alleged gang-related killing of 26 year old Tyquan Gumbs of Binghamton on Fayette Street, a week after a shooting at an after-hours night club on Orton Avenue.
Ashe was offered a deal to plead guilty to manslaughter and face 20 years in prison. The murder charge carries 25 years to life.
A trial is now expected to start in January.
