Plane with Engine Fire Lands at Greater Binghamton Airport
Authorities are looking into an emergency situation at the Greater Binghamton Airport that brought response from airport and outside fire crews on October 26.
Emergency equipment was scrambled to the airfield in the Town of Maine at around 3:20 in the afternoon with a report of an airplane coming in with an engine on fire.
The plane landed safely and the fire was put out. One person aboard the plane was reportedly evaluated at the scene by medics.
There was no word immediately available about the flight and whether its intended destination was the Binghamton area airport.
Calls to Broome Security were referred to Broome County Executive Jason Garnar's office.
Delta operates flights between Detroit and Binghamton. Information posted on the Greater Binghamton Airport website shows a flight from Detroit arriving in Binghamton at 3 p.m., about 20 minutes before the reported emergency call appeared in fire department communications.
