Pinkies Bakery Closes but Pinkies Barbecue to Remain Open
A popular town of Chenango bakery has closed its doors but a couple of related businesses will continue to operate.
Pinkies Bakery and Cafe has been located in a former Friendly's restaurant at 1148 Upper Front Street for about two years. It had previously operated at a smaller nearby site.
Co-owner Rachel Richmond told WNBF News the bakery was closed a couple of weeks ago. She announced the decision to permanently shut it down in a social media post, writing that a "combination of factors" made it unsustainable to continue operations.
Richmond thanked the "loyal customers who have supported us throughout the years."
Richmond had operated the bakery and cafe with Daniel Napierala. She said Pinkies Barbecue, which is located a short distance from the bakery, will remain open.
Richmond said a related nearby business - Pinkies Dog House - is "on hold" for the moment but is expected to reopen soon.
For now, Richmond said the focus will be on running the barbecue restaurant and a food truck, along with providing catering services.
