A man suspected of robbing an Otsego County convenience store of gas, beer and snacks has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

Authorities say 29-year-old Ryan Kennedy of Unadilla was taken into custody after a brief pursuit in the town of Hartwick this morning.

State police investigators believe Kennedy displayed what appeared to be a black pistol inside the Mirabito Quickway store in Otego just after 4:30 this morning.

Police say the robber stole beer, snacks, cigarettes and gasoline. He drove off in a pickup truck.

A trooper spotted the suspect vehicle on Route 205. The truck sped away with police in pursuit. The chase ended when the vehicle became disabled.

Police say the truck had been reported stolen from a Unadilla residence.

Investigators say two pellet guns and the items taken in the heist were found in the vehicle.

According to police, Kennedy's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.19 percent.

Kennedy was charged with robbery, grand larceny and aggravated driving while intoxicated. He was arraigned in Otsego town court and sent to the county jail.
