While most of the Twin Tiers is looking at only a couple of inches of snow from the latest weather system moving through, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has been opting for a pre-emptive approach.

PennDOT said it began treating road surfaces in Northeast Pennsylvania, including Bradford County, with anti-icing solution in the afternoon of January 29.

Areas to the west of Interstate 81 had expected to get most of their snow overnight while snow in the Greater Binghamton area was expected to taper off to flurries by afternoon.

To the East, areas like Delaware County had been expecting only a trace to an inch, possibly a little more in the higher elevations.

Still, motorists should be aware of the potential for slippery road conditions and give themselves additional time to reach their destinations.
