Officer Aldo A. Rossi, Jr. Memorial Dedication
A 10th Anniversary Memorial Dedication was held this morning for Port Dickinson Police Officer Aldo A. Rossi, Jr. who was killed by a drunk driver on July 27th, 2018. Rossi died while directing traffic on Route 7 as he was waiting for a work crew to arrive and remove a tree that had fallen and was blocking the road. Rossi was 42 years of age at the time of his death.
A large contingent of law enforcement officers and dignitaries attended the dedication. In addition numerous community members were also in attendance honoring the life of a public servant who died in the line of duty.
Kathi Bailey spearheaded the movement to create the memorial. Dozens of organizations and individuals made contributions to underwrite funding for the memorial which is located adjacent to the Village Hall on Chenango Street.
Broome County Sheriff David Harder presided over the dedication ceremony. Also speaking were:
