Occupied Home on Binghamton’s West Side Struck by Gunfire
An Endicott woman has been arrested after two gunshots were fired at a residence in Binghamton.
Authorities said police were called to 7 Catherine Street on the West Side of the city around 3 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report that shots were heard during a dispute in the roadway.
When officers arrived, there were advised that there had been an argument involving two women who were known to each other. During the dispute, one of the women removed a handgun from a bag and fired two rounds at an occupied two-family home.
Police interviewed people who were in the area at the time of the shooting. Officers found two spent 9 millimeter shell casings in the street near the house. No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
The woman who fired the shots had fled the scene in a car before police arrived. The suspect later was located at a home in the village of Endicott, where she was taken into custody.
According to a news release from Binghamton detectives, 18-year-old Armony Murphy was charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and one count of criminal criminal possession of a weapon.
Murphy was arraigned in Binghamton city court Monday morning. She was ordered held at Broome County Jail.
