The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is holding the 2019 Boys Basketball Championships this weekend at the Floyd L.Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.  All five school classifications are competing for state titles.  Play gets underway Friday morning at 9:30 A.M. and continues through the afternoon on Sunday.  In all there will be 15 games played.

Marathon is the only school competing representing Section 4.  Marathon meets Section 10's Harrisville in a Class D semifinal at 2:30 on Saturday afternoon.  A win would put them into the Class D title game on Sunday at 2:00 P.M..

The tournament gets underway with a bang at 9:30 on Friday morning as Glens Falls meets Olean in a Class B semifinal.  That game features 25-0 Olean against 23-1 Glens Falls and one of New York State's all-time greats Joe Girard III.  He is averaging just under 50 points a game and is heading to Syracuse to play basketball for the Orange next season.
