Norwich Man Faces New Charges in Death of His Daughter
A Norwich man accused of causing the death of his 20-month-old daughter in August is now under indictment for manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
28-year-old Devan Ellsworth had initially been charged with assault in the death of Delany Ellsworth.
On August 27th, authorities were called to Ellsworth’s home on Henry Street with a report of a little girl who was unresponsive.
Investigators say Delany had suffered blunt trauma around the face and head. She died the following night at a hospital in Syracuse.
Prior to the toddler’s beating, Devan Ellsworth had been jailed for manufacturing methamphetamine but was released in prison in May.
