“No One Bothered” to Report JC Shooting
Several people apparently were aware a man had been shot near a Johnson City tavern but none of them called the police to report the incident.
Village Police Chief Brent Dodge said investigators learned of Saturday morning's shooting after an employee in a hospital emergency department reported a man had arrived with gunshot wounds.
The shooting happened in the area of Charley's Lounge at 272 Harry L Drive around 2:45 a.m.
A 25-year-old Endicott-area man was shot in the abdomen and a leg. He was reported in stable condition Monday after undergoing surgery.
Dodge said while others witnessed or heard the shooting, "no one bothered to call" police.
Detectives believe there was a single shooter involved in the attack.
Dodge said investigators have learned some of those who were in the area of the Johnson City incident also were at a Binghamton after-hours club where a man was fatally shot about two hours later.
The police chief said there was no immediate connection between the shootings, although he said it's "awfully coincidental" that some of the same people were at both scenes.
