Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]25 fire companies and Emergency Medical Service agencies in the region are sharing $125,000 in New York grant money to be used for a variety of applications.

State Senator Fred Akshar announced the funding that will help pay for everything from radio equipment for rescue boats to fire hose replacement and rescue baskets for removal of victims from incident scenes.

The grants of $5,000 for each agency included in this year’s New York State Budget are administered through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

The 52nd District Republican says first responders face huge challenges when dealing with fires, flood, vehicle crashes and medical emergencies.
