Chenango County Sheriff’s officials say a New Berlin man is in custody after allegedly attacking a Deputy who responded to call March 18 about a domestic dispute on Warner Hill Road in the Town.

Officials say the deputy was met at the front door by 44 year old Jason Douglas, who reportedly immediately attacked the officer.

As the Deputy attempted to take Douglas into custody, the man continued to resist and the Deputy sustained an injury.

Douglas then grabbed a tire iron and ran into a garage where back-up officers deployed a Taser but said it was ineffective.

Douglas dropped the tire iron and was taken into custody.

Both Douglas and the Deputy were taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital were they were treated and released.

Douglas was charged with felony assault and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and menacing. He was sent to the Chenango County Jail on $50,000.
