Authorities say the Otsego county woman stole around $24,000 between 2014 and last February, 2020 by depositing checks payable to the school district into those bank accounts she oversaw and stole at least another $10,000 by using the Morris schools’ Amazon account and credit cards to buy herself merchandise.

When sentenced in May, Hand could be looking at up to ten years in prison and a maximum $250,000 fine. Hand has also agreed to pay $34,000 dollars in restitution to the school district.
