Dozens of people took advantage of a walk-up Covid-19 vaccination site set up at NYSEG Stadium in downtown Binghamton.

United Health Services employees ran the outdoor vaccine clinic on Monday in the parking lot outside the stadium on Henry Street.

UHS director of clinical services Bridget Talbut said about 40 Moderna vaccine doses were administered to people who stopped by the mobile unit, which operated for seven hours.

The vaccination clinic was open to anyone over the age of 18. Talbut noted that only the Pfizer vaccine currently is approved for those who are 16- and 17-years-old.

Talbut said most people are making vaccination appointments at mass vaccination sites, pharmacies and other pop-up operations. But she expects there will be additional walk-up opportunities in the region where no appointment will be required.

Talbut said people will be able to obtain a vaccination without an appointment at Tioga Downs on Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.
